Safety switch for connection loss during a tournament

My connection suddenly went bad during a tournament, couldn't pass through moves, couldn't resign, couldn't pull out of the tournament, it was leading to forced rated losses for hours, while lichess was showing me the timeout screen when i tried to refresh.
I could fortunately pull out of the tournament, but I think there should be a safety switch for these kinds of situations.
Say, if PING>x forfeit user from tournament, or after a game where one side lost due to failing to move in the 30 secs period, forfeit user from tournament, etc. Saving the user from involuntarily losing hours of games with the 30secs rule.
The site is experiencing some maintenance issues atm ... I for example can't start a game.
I see, but i guess the logic of the tournament system can benefit if it is extended to cover the issue above, it is not a bug but perhaps a scenario not thought of before (?may be there is a safety feature about this).
Also, i figured my withdrawal was not passed on to server too, so It put me back in the tournament a moment ago, i had to withdraw a second time. I guess this is all the more reason to implement a tournament safety feature for connection (user or server) losses / multiple 30sec rule losses.
