Had my first ever smothered mate set up..........But opponent resigned.......poo!

when I spot it, I let my opponent do it anyway; it's just fun to see it on the board

if I were guessing, I'd guess your opponent saw he would lose his queen by the fork. many players won't continue without the queen. maybe only you saw the 'more refined' smother mate
