Chess pairings: What could happen, if chess pairings used three types of ratings instead of one to pair chess players (Actual rating: 2044 ; Avg Opponent: 1679.79 ; Best Win: 2173). Would there be more draws?

In the lobby there is a rating range selector. I try to set mine at my actual rating to my best win rating. If would be useful if it defaulted to those settings when our browser cache gets cleared. Maybe have a selector to pick between : Weaker / Similar / Stronger rated players. So it would default to Similar rated players.
