Season 11 - Sixth Level - Group J

It’s crunch time as we head into the final month of the 11th Correspondence League – with titles, promotions and relegations all set to be decided.

The final three rounds will all be played simultaneously from Saturday, and the beauty of the format means no promotions have yet been confirmed and the only relegations are down to withdrawals.

Here is how things stand in your group ahead of rounds seven, eight and nine. A reminder – if two players finish on the same score, the following tiebreaks will apply in this order:

#1: Points vs. tied participants
#2: Match wins
#3: Sonnerborn-Berger score against group (not calculated in these league tables).

I’ve tried to include the various tiebreaks in the tables.

Group J (tier 6)
1. RJ1955 P6 Pts 10
2. PatrickBIALES P6 Pts 8 (Sonnenborn-Berger calculation required with Icronovt)
--------------------------------------
3. Icronovt P6 Pts 8
4. Lischi P6 Pts 7
5. ThePenguinOfDeath P5 Pts 6 (Sonnenborn-Berger calculation required with Zazare)
6. Zazare P6 Pts 6
7. Filo1963 P6 Pts 5
8. Fianchiero P6 Pts 4 (superior head-to-head vs Paris_Nicolaides)
9. Paris_Nicolaides P5 Pts 4
--------------------------------------
10. MercianAus P6 Pts 0

This is another tight group where nothing is yet decided. RJ1955 is in prime position, but still has work to do to confirm promotion. Just two points separates second to sixth, and there's a chance that fewer than the usual 13 points will be enough for a top two finish.

Icronovt faces tough games against Lischi and Patrick BIALES, while Zazare's games as white vs ThePenguinOfDeath (round eight) and leader RJ1955 (round nine) and ThePenguinOfDeath v PatrickBIALES (round seven) could also be pivotal.

At the bottom, Paris_Nicolaides' fortuitous victory over ThePenguinOfDeath on time in round six could be crucial as they now have a four-point lead over MercianAus. Only one goes down to tier seven from each level six group, so MercianAus will need a near perfect finish to stand a chance of survival (especially as they have inferior head-to-head records against both Paris_Nicolaides and Fianchiero).

Best of luck to all competitors in your final three games!
