Lichess banned atrophied

You probably cannot discuss anything because the public usually lacks the relevant data. So you can't discuss or enforce a tiny bit because there's no lever.

Calm down and play chess.

(Uhm, just a recommendation. I am bit older, I know that I do not start a war I cannot win.)

@Sarg0n as far as I can see most of us are calm, and nobody abandoned chess. Personally I am trying to familiarize myself again with the non-clean interface of chess.com. I also gave a try to chess24.com, but the pieces are moving terribly slow so I gave up. There are other chess sites that I am planning to try too.

@Sarg0n its not a war it is a discussion on:

* Was there anything intentional in Atrophied's actions
* Was there any actual harm done or something gained by Atrophied by his rating drop
* Is sandbagging (by itself) a big deal

Levers could be:
* Stop donating
* Switching to another site
* Keep bitching about it so more people bitch about it

I honestly have just one question and will be really happy to stop spamming once I am told was there any harm done actually, since the Atrophied didn't participate in any U2000 or something tournaments. The ZH league calculates rating in another way so his current rating is not taken into account (as far as i understand). So where is the crime? Or what am I missing?

It's even worse - in my eyes. I do not consider him a player from now on. It reminded me how a year ago a Russian wanted to become the champion Antichess and was also caught sandbagging.

I do not believe that you do not know about the mass of garbage players with FICS. In this story Lichess confirmed his high security system and read how someone leaves the site really funny. It is better to unsubscribe from atrophied.

If you play with 0/0/0 and opponent also 0/0/0 and you are black, you lose. A low probability but possible: this happens 50 times, then you're banned for sandbagging.

I think since atophied has openly confessed for cheating, he should be banned from lichess for 1 yr and not permanently, this will cause huge damage to his career and reputation but I think he deserves a second chance and after his punishment is over maybe he can start fresh again.

This leaves a lot of his supporters, after the ban, with egg on their faces. I find it difficult to take his apology seriously after that first video professing his innocence.

Good riddance, frankly.

I still believe lichess should be more transparent regarding user privacy.
Now Atrophied has double tag. One for cheating other for sandbagging. The first person to make it ?
Well, and so much of lichess cheat detection system. Atrophied cheat and no one could catch him.
